The topic of anesthesia is one that has many information
sources that I will be able to rely on to help me with research. I have a wide
variety of resources ranging from books, articles, journals, as well as credible
websites. The medical field is something that is constantly advancing which
will only aid me in my research because most information will be up to date.
People who may be interested in this project would be anyone in the medical
field because anesthesia affects almost every part of medicine from dentistry to
a woman in labor. All of the people in these lines of work would probably have
an opinion on anesthesia. I assume the majority would be positive, but that
will be the interesting information that I find out while further researching
this topic.

anesthesia
In class today, I learned the importance of narrowing down
my research topic. I have officially decided to further research anesthesia but
I was not sure which direction to take with it in order to concentrate my
research. I believe the area that I would like to focus on would be the history
of anesthesia and then dive into the different sections of the field ranging
from local anesthesia to general. The words I have come up to better my
research are anesthesia, local, general, epidural, history, among others. The sources
on westga’s website also seem like they are going to help a great deal and I
cannot wait to see what interesting information I will be able to find on
there.

research
For this research project coming up I have finally decided
on two, very different topics that both interest me. The first is anesthesia
and how it works and the second is event planning. Anesthesia is something that
has always sparked my interest ever since I had surgery for the first time. I
would like to know how it works as well as the process behind creating and
administering it. I would also like to research each different level of
anesthesia from numbing an area to complete sedation of the body.
My next area of interest is event planning and the steps on
how to become a successful planner. This interest of mine came about during my
senior year of high school when it was thrown upon me to plan prom. I had never
planned anything before but I am very ocd, a perfectionist, and I had the
connections to the suppliers we needed. What started as a headache turned into
one of the most enjoyable things I did senior year. It was very rewarding in
the end and I would love to know what it takes to be able to make event
planning a career.

major purchase
The largest purchase that I have ever made was buying a
horse during this past Christmas Break. Spending such a large amount of money forced
me to quickly mature and take responsibility because this was my personal
decision, not my parents. While deciding on a budget, I also had to decide what
kind of horse I felt would be talented enough to advance me through the levels.
I was offered a spot to join a group headed to Ireland to shop for horses as
well so now I had to make the major decision whether to buy a horse from the
states or from overseas. This decision was terrifying because it was a large
deal of money and if I bought one from Ireland, there was no turning back. All my
time and energy would be fully committed to a new horse. I researched
bloodlines, training, event records, and breeds of horses from the U.S.
compared to those in Ireland. I talked to highly respected trainers/competitors
who had bought horses from Ireland and what their opinions were on the horses
over there versus the horses here in the States. I finally made my decision to
take this leap and hopped on a plane headed to Ireland at the beginning of
December. After riding horses for three days, I made my final decision on a
horse that I had fallen in love with and before I knew it I was headed home the
new owner of an Irish Sport Horse. He arrived to my farm a couple days before
Christmas after a long week of travel. It was a major purchase in my life but
because of all of the information I had gathered, I know that I made the best
choice and I do not regret one bit of it.

library
My favorite part of the library is the second floor. I live
in the arbor view apartments with three other roommates and even though we all
have our own rooms, it still is very hard to concentrate. The second floor is
quiet enough for me to focus on my work as well as easy going enough for me to
talk to those around me. My least favorite part about the library is the
printing. I wish each floor had a printing section as well as the option of
color printing. This would make things so much more convenient because if one
of the printers is broken then there would be another option in the same building.
Instead, now we have to go to the excel center. As far as being confused in the
library, I still do not really know how to navigate around the library to find
particular books.

A little about myself
My name is Jessica Brown and I am a freshman. I am not really sure what I want to do but I am interested in business management and marketing or maybe nursing.
I would like to learn more about how to find credible resources on the internet because this will help me out a great deal in my college career.
